Gilbane Building Company has named Lawrence Bacher vice president. He is a senior project executive and principal of the higher education center of excellence. In this role, he is responsible to ensure operational excellence across the market and promote exchange of knowledge and skills between all regional and district offices.
Bacher joined Gilbane in 1977 and has 30 years of management construction experience. He has served as chief estimator, project executive, value engineering director, design phase manager, program management director, and estimating executive.
Some of the projects he has been involved in include the University of R.I. Ryan Center & Boss Arena, Dunkin Donuts Center, Orlando International Airport, Alpha Beta Technology Betafectin Manufacturing Facility, Pfizer Inc. Building 118, Genentech, Inc. Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing campus, R.I. Hospital Hasbro Children's Hospital and St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center Cancer Center.
Bacher graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor of arts in architecture and a bachelor of science in building sciences. He is a LEED accredited professional and is a member of the Society for College and University Planning, Society of American Value Engineers and Construction Management Assn. of America.
