BOMA Boston September update – TOBY call for entries, preparedness month roundtable, Fallfest and more!

Boston, MA On August 27th, 150 BOMA members and guests gathered at Urban Wild for a Networking Nite sponsored by Compass Facility Services. It was a great night for commercial real estate professionals to network and enjoy outdoor lawn games. A nice way to end a fun BOMA-filled summer, and to kick off the Fall schedule of events with BOMA. 

The BOMA Boston local Call for Entries (submission requirements, eligibility, and manual) for 2025-26 are now available. We strongly encourage you to start preparing for your submission process as early as you can. Find important dates and deadlines below:

• Deadline for Building and Industry Submissions: September 8, 2025*;

• Submission Reviews in Online Portal by Judges Begins: September 15, 2025; 

• Building Tours Begin: September 22, 2025 (*building submissions must be reviewed and scored before tours);

• All Judging Completed in Online Portal by Judges: October 20, 2025; and

• Local Winners Announced: TOBY & Industry Awards Dinner, Thursday, November 20, 2025.

For Preparedness Month, the BOMA Boston Preparedness Committee is hosting a roundtable on hazardous materials and environmental issues in commercial real estate on Thursday, September 25th. Panelists will share their expertise on dealing with these issues in commercial buildings and best practices on handling different situations in your building. Registration is complimentary for BOMA Boston members and $60 for nonmembers. Nonmembers can register by emailing Courtney Sullivan (csullivan@gbreb.com). 

On October 1st, BOMA Boston’s Membership Committee is holding its annual Connect with BOMA Breakfast at Chrome Gym, located at 1 Center Plaza. Connect with BOMA Breakfast is designed for current, new and prospective members to learn more about committee involvement, networking & engagement opportunities, education and events in an informal networking setting. Learn how to get the most of your BOMA membership and get involved! Various BOMA staff, board of directors, and committee chairs will be on site to answer any questions you might have regarding your membership. Light breakfast refreshments and food will be provided. This event is complimentary to BOMA Boston members & prospective members. To register, members can login to their user portal and nonmembers can email Lauren Schultz (lschultz@gbreb.com). 

BOMA Fallfest is taking place on Thursday, October 16th. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and great conversation with other CRE professionals at this special event hosted by our affiliate sponsors. Registration for BOMA industry members is complimentary and is $75 for industry nonmembers. affiliate members (supplier companies) must be in good standing with membership and sponsor this event in order to attend. Sponsorships are $1,000 and come with marketing visibility and four tickets. Nonmembers and affiliate company members can email Courtney Sullivan (csullivan@gbreb.com) to register. 

Melissa Miller, business development manager with ATI Restoration, will be teaching an Accelerated BOMI Managing the Organization Class from October 22nd to October 24th. Class will take place at the BOMA Boston office from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Managing the organization will prepare you to manage and lead your organization through improved communication, motivation, relationship and team building, project management, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Managers who take this course will be able to further develop their group leadership and management techniques and abilities, and analyze and improve their relationships with staff, colleagues, and owners.
