BOND completes Dana-Farber's Jimmy Fund Clinic renovation

BOND celebrated the completion of a $10 million renovation to Dana-Farber Cancer Center's Jimmy Fund Clinic, located in the city's Longwood Medical Area. The two-year renovation and expansion project reconfigured 19,500 s/f of clinic space serving the needs of pediatric cancer patients, increasing its capacity by 40%. A dedication ceremony celebrating the new improvements was held January 15. The Jimmy Fund Clinic's multi-phased renovations have resulted in significant improvements aimed at enhancing pediatric cancer care. Infusion and clinical support areas have been expanded, and three semi-private and seven private/isolation rooms have been added to the clinic. The waiting room has also been expanded and reconfigured to include play, quiet, and teen areas. BOND completed all construction adjacent to other clinical areas, which required implementing infection control protocols to minimize risk and disruption to patients, doctors, and visitors. The BOND team also provided existing conditions laser scanning and in-depth logistics planning for the two-phased effort, resulting in cost and time savings for Dana-Farber. Dana-Farber's Jimmy Fund Clinic is hailed as a leading center of excellence for pediatric cancer treatment and research. All outpatient services provided on the 5th floor of Dana-Farber's Yawkey Center for Cancer Care during construction will now move back to the Jimmy Fund Clinic on the 3rd floor of the Dana building at 44 Binney St. "BOND is thrilled to work with Dana-Farber in ensuring these improvements make a tremendous difference in the lives of staff and patients," said BOND president Robert Murray. "In finishing this project ahead of schedule, the Jimmy Fund Clinic can now concentrate of providing top-notch pediatric cancer care in a greatly improved setting.
