Boston Sports & Shoulder Center expands at Cummings Properties’ “Medical City” campus

Woburn, MA Boston Sports & Shoulder Center is expanding its footprint with a custom-built clinic on Cummings Properties’ “Medical City” campus. The 6,100 s/f facility, its fifth Massachusetts location, is expected to open this spring at 800 West Cummings Park.

Founded in 2006, Boston Sports & Shoulder Center (BSSC) provides patient-centered orthopedic care. Its highly experienced team of board-certified physicians specializes in sports medicine, workers’ compensation injuries, and a wide range of orthopedic surgeries.

BSSC currently operates its other practices in Boston, Dedham, Waltham, and Westborough. According to Cummings leasing director Steve Cusano, the new location will support growth at its Waltham facility, where a new surgical center is under development.

“BSSC’s new Woburn practice will be a convenient hub for patients north of Boston,” said Cusano. “And its central location is ideal for Waltham patients seeking postsurgical care. Additionally, the sizeable cluster of medical providers both in the same building and throughout the campus is sure to be a source of new patient referrals.”

Cusano and leasing manager John Halsey worked on the transaction with Cushman & Wakefield senior director Mary Burnieika and executive vice chair John Boyle. The lease includes a custom buildout by Cummings’ in-house architects and construction professionals.

“We appreciate the strong relationships we have at Cushman & Wakefield,” said Halsey. “Partnering with Mary and John made it easy to execute the deal that will best suit the client’s needs.”

Among BSSC’s new neighbors are Beth Israel Lahey/Winchester Hospital, Center for Diagnostic Imaging, New England Women’s Healthcare, and North Shore Pain Management as well as many other wellness practitioners and medical providers.

The West Cummings Park “Medical City” community is located on Washington Street, at the intersection of I-93 and I-95, less than two miles from Winchester Hospital. Among the numerous amenities within the large, active business campus are coffee shops, a day care, fitness facilities, a dry cleaner, a bank, and a variety of business service providers and restaurants.
