Boston, MA The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Boston participated in the Greater Boston Real Estate Board 2018 GBREB Installation of Officers on Wednesday, January 17. BOMA was proud to witness the installation of 2018 president, Amy Bush, vice president, operations, Brookfield Property Partners and 2018 GBREB treasurer, Erika Clarke, vice president of commercial properties, National Development.

BOMA hosted their first Roundtable of the year on Thursday, January 25. The event focused on property management excellence and was moderated by 2018 BOMA president Amy Bush. The panel consisted of three Boston 2017 TOBY & Industry Award Winners: Matthew Callahan, general manager, Transwestern Consulting Group, Steven Flagg, general manager, Lincoln Property Company, and Clayton Wentworth, general manager, CBRE | New England.

BOMA’s emerging professionals committee hosted their ski trip on Friday, February 2 at Waterville Valley Resort in New Hampshire. 40 members and guests met at Waterville for an afternoon of skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and networking. Formed in 2007, the emerging professionals committee provides service, educational, and networking opportunities for folks 0-10 years in the commercial real estate industry. 

BOMA Boston is bringing the BOMA Benefit back. On Saturday, March 10, the benefit will take place at the Marriott Long Wharf benefiting BOMA’s charitable partner Bridge Over Troubled Waters, the city’s premier organization dedicated to transforming the lives of runaway, homeless, and high-risk youth through safe, supportive and encouraging relationships and effective and innovative services to guide the youths towards self-sufficiency. Close to 300 BOMA members and guests will participate in the Roaring 20’s themed event, consisting of casino gaming, chances to win raffle prizes, dancing, and heavy hors d’oeuvres.

BOMA’s partnership with BOMI International remains strong with nine courses scheduled this year in the city. With the educational offerings, BOMA members and non-members learn from senior professionals in the commercial real estate industry to work towards earning their RPA or FMA designations, or PAC or PMFP certifications. The first BOMI Course, Law & Risk Management, began on Wednesday, January 10. The course was instructed by Larry Lenrow, managing director, property management and operations, The Davis Companies. The next course in the series is The Design, Operations, and Maintenance of Building Systems Part 1 will begin on Tuesday, February 27. It will be instructed by Mike Gill, director of operations, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
