Malden, MA Callahan Construction Managers commemorated the start of construction on Jefferson Malden Center with a symbolic “demolition event” hosted by the project developer Jefferson Apartment Group.

This 546,881 s/f mixed-use redevelopment project, slated for completion in 2019, will transform Malden Center and serve as the gateway to Pleasant St., which will reconnect the city’s historic retail core to the Malden Center MBTA station. Jefferson Malden Center is designed by CBT Architects.

The property will include 320 residential units, 45,000 s/f of office space and 22,500 s/f of street-level retail spaces. Amenities will include a new public park and common space, glass sky-bridge, a fitness center and yoga room, club lounge and conference space, a pool, pergolas, fire pits, outdoor kitchen and a roof deck.

“We are proud to be working with Jefferson Apartment Group, their partners and associates, and to continue our work in the city of Malden where we are actively engaged in community partnerships in addition to our ongoing project activities,” said Patrick Callahan, president of Callahan Construction Managers. “It’s truly meaningful to be involved in the construction of a property that will contribute to the revitalization of Malden Center into a thriving, walkable mixed-use community.”

“Jefferson Malden Center is truly a gateway project and we appreciate the combined efforts of all those that have been involved in bringing the project to fruition. The team at Callahan Construction has been extremely resourceful and were a contributing factor in the development process. As the project moves to commencement, Jefferson Apartment Group is excited to have them working alongside us and we know that they will deliver on the vision that everyone involved has worked so hard for,” said Christopher Burchard, senior vice president and partner of Jefferson Apartment Group.
