Connecticut Attorneys Title Insurance Company (CATIC), one of New England's largest domestic and only Bar-Related title insurance underwriters, will relocate its headquarters to Malkin Properties' MerrittView, according to Jeffrey Newman, executive vice president of Malkin Properties, the marketing and managing agent for the building.
The tenant will relocate to a 4,140 s/f office on MerrittView's fifth floor for a seven-year and three-month lease term. Malkin Construction will build out the space for the tenant.
"As our lease approached expiration, the company was looking to expand to larger office space while maintaining its presence within the southern Connecticut market, along the Route 7 corridor," said Stephen Maggiola, branch manager and counsel at CATIC. "The location and quality of MerrittView played a significant role in the selection of CATIC's new office. MerrittView offers a superior business location and ownership went above and beyond to completely accommodate our growing space requirements."
CATIC is the major operating subsidiary of its parent holding company, CATIC Financial, Inc., and has been in business for more than 40 years. The company has seven offices throughout New England, and issues its policies through a network of more than 3,000 attorney agents. CATIC is licensed in Conn., Mass., Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine and N.H.
"We welcome CATIC as another prestigious member of the MerrittView tenant roster," said Newman. "As at all of Malkin Properties' suburban trophy properties, the company will enjoy the benefits of our extensive amenities, hands-on building management services, and easy highway and mass transportation access to New York City."
Newman, senior leasing associate Kimberly Zaccagnino, and leasing associate Tara Long represented the landlord in this transaction. The tenant was represented by John Dolan III and Jackie Pinyan-Durels, formerly of Colliers International CT LLC, and currently with McCall & Almy and Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, respectively.
