Spencer Trask & Co., a leading private equity firm focused on co-developing paradigm-shifting businesses, which traces its roots back to Thomas Edison and Edison Electric (now known as the General Electric Company), has signed a 17,350 s/f long term sublease at 1700 East Putnam Ave. The deal is one of the largest transactions in Greenwich this year to date. While maintaining offices at its 535 Madison Ave. address in Manhattan, Spencer Trask & Co. has relocated its executive offices and operations to its new premier headquarters in Connecticut, signaling a major expansion from New York City to this suburban market.
Budd Wiesenberg, vice president of CB Richard Ellis' Stamford office, and Gerry Miovski, senior vice president of CB Richard Ellis' New York office, represented the tenant, Spencer Trask & Co., in the negotiations with the assistance of Robert Caruso, senior managing director, and William Cuddy, executive vice president, both of CB Richard Ellis' Stamford location. Gerard Hallock and John Stoddard of Jones Lang LaSalle represented the sublessor.
In addition, Cuddy and Wiesenberg serve as the leasing agent for Related Properties Corporation at 1700 East Putnam Ave. located just minutes from Exits 5 and 6 off I-95 and the Stamford and Old Greenwich Metro-North train stations. The property provides easy access to New York City and points beyond as well as the opportunity for companies to draw from the Tri-State Region's deepest and most diverse labor pools.
This trophy headquarters office building totals 180,450 s/f.
