Century Investment Co. signs Simply Fashion Dots to 3,550 s/f at Century Shopping Center

An Alabama-based retailer of women's apparel and accessories has opened for business at Century Shopping Center, occupying the 3,550 s/f space formerly occupied by the former Dots chain, according to Andrew Cohen of Century Investment Co., owner of the center. Many of the former Dots staff, Cohen said, have been rehired at new store, called Simply Fashion Dots. Century Center retailers include Super TJ Maxx, Bob's Discount Furniture, Big Y Supermarket, Modell's Sporting Goods, CVS and McDonalds. The new five year lease was negotiated by Liz Cohen Rappaport of Century Investment Co. and Matt Halprin of New England Retail. Century Shopping Center comprises 285,000 s/f of retail space on Memorial Ave., across the Connecticut River from downtown Springfield and directly accessible to the site of the $800 million MGM Resort Casino, scheduled to open in 2016. Century Investment Co. also recently completed the following deals: * Dental West, owned and operated by James Maslowski, D.M.D., has signed a 10-year lease for his practice to occupy 2,300 s/f at 171 Park Ave., West Springfield. The building part of the Century Park office/medical campus at the corner of Park Ave. and Union St. * Bob's Discount Furniture has renewed its 63,000 s/f lease at Century Shopping Center through 2020, in addition to negotiating a five-year option term. * Northgate Dental Center has exercised the first of two 5-year options for its 3,000 s/f offices at Northgate Center, 1985 Main St., Springfield. * Goodwill Industries has expanded its retail outlet from 5,600 to 8,200 s/f at the North Main St. shopping center in tandem with extending its lease there for seven years through 2022.
