Cianbro and Brasfield & Gorrie celebrate topping off of Eastern Maine Medical Center's patient tower

The construction management joint venture between Cianbro Corp. and Brasfield & Gorrie topped out the Eastern Maine Medical Center's (EMMC) new eight-story modernization project patient tower. The project consists of a 361,000 s/f patient tower that will support a sterile processing department, main lobby, heart center, surgical suite, NICU, and three floors of private patient rooms. The facility was designed by MorrisSwitzer~Environments for Health. It is a Center for Health Design Pebble Project member. The project is sited to take advantage of the views of the nearby river and is designed to accommodate future growth at EMMC. Completion of Phase 1 is scheduled for early 2016 with the full project completion scheduled for early 2017. Eastern Maine Medical Center serves communities throughout central, eastern and northern Maine. It has grown from a five-bed general hospital into a comprehensive 411-bed medical center.
