Colantonio, Inc. wins Zeiterion Performing Arts contract - $24 million renovation and restoration project

New Bedford, MA Colantonio Inc. has been named general contractor for the $24 million renovation and restoration of the historic Zeiterion Performing Arts Center. 

Working alongside project architect Wilson Butler Architects and the owner’s project manager, P-Three Inc., Colantonio will undertake reconfiguration of all four floors of the century-old masonry, steel, and wood landmark. The scope will focus on front-of-house spaces, and will ensure ADA accessibility, add a new elevator, new lobbies, concessions, a box office, public restrooms, patron lounges, staff offices, and arts education classrooms. The project will also feature the renovation of the original lobby and auditorium.

“We are honored to be awarded this project,” said Colantonio president George Willwerth. “At Colantonio, we’ve established an award-winning portfolio of thoughtful and meticulous historic renovations, including the Massachusetts State House Senate Chamber and the Forest River Outdoor Recreation Nature Center. We’re thrilled to bring our talents to the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center.”
