BOMA Boston update: Connect with BOMA Breakfast, BOMA Ski Trip, BOMI Education and more!

Boston, MA On January 18th, BOMA hosted the first roundtable of 2024. The Property Management Excellence Roundtable featured 2023 TOBY & Industry award winners! Moderated by Clayton Wentworth, 2024 BOMA Boston president with Alexandria Real Estate Equities; panelists, Angela Iannuzzi, property manager, National Development; Michael Nadeau, LEED AP, property manager, Oxford Properties; Kayla Pulliam, real estate manager, CBRE; and Julissa Taveras, senior account manager, C&W Services shared stories and insights about how to maximize building efficiency and how to run a cohesive team. It was great to see over 60 BOMA members and guests for some industry networking.

On Friday, February 16th BOMA Boston is hosting their Annual Ski Trip at Loon Mountain! Hit the slopes with an all-day?ski?lift ticket or an activity pass, including snowshoeing, tubing, skating, zip lining, and cross-country?skiing! BOMA’s partnership with BOMI International remains strong. BOMI: The Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part I will be starting up on February 6th and will conclude on March 7th. It will take place on Tuesday and Thursdays virtually via Zoom and will be taught by David Thompson of Jamestown. In this course, you will learn about building design and construction, project delivery, construction materials, and building systems, including HVAC, roofing, and plumbing systems, as well as ceilings, flooring, and interior walls. BOMI: Ethics is Good Business will take place on Friday, March 1st via Zoom from 9:00am – 4:00pm and will be taught by Mark Giampa of Related Beal. Ethics Is Good Business ShortCourse will provide you with the tools to make sound ethical decisions. As you will discover, the information in this course book provides a framework for analyzing and responding to ethical problems. During this ShortCourse, you will read passages that reinforce the key concepts and issues presented. You will also encounter specific case studies that illustrate the need for you to have a firm ethical foundation for the decisions you will make. Registration will be open soon. BOMI: Budgeting & Accounting will begin on Monday, March 18th and end on Wednesday, April 10th. Taught by Barry Familetto, Stetson Management, the class will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays virtually via Zoom. The Budgeting and Accounting course updates reflect the latest industry practices and standards. Innovative microlessons that focus on practical applications provide real-world insights and strategies you can implement immediately. You’ll learn the skills to effectively analyze financial statements, create budgets, manage and address budget variations, prepare rent rolls, and how to attract and retain high-quality tenants using tenant profiles. BOMI: Environmental Health & Safety Issues will start on Tuesday, April 23rd and conclude on Thursday, May 16th. The class will be taught by Brendan Reilly of ATI Restoration and takes place via Zoom from 9:00am – 12:00pm. Environmental Health and Safety Issues presents best practices for developing and managing an effective environmental health and safety program. You will learn about the regulatory process and how it affects facilities. Compliance with laws and regulations is a key focus.
