San Diego, CA Several members of the Connecticut / Western Massachusetts Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors attended the Spring World Conference, held at the Marriot Marquis Hotel.  Located on the San Diego Bay, in close proximity to the Gaslamp Quarter, Petco Park, and many other attractions this was the perfect location for the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors to celebrate its 75th Anniversary.

The highlight of the conference was the Panattoni 75th Anniversary Celebration Party aboard the USS Midway, which culminated in fireworks over the flight deck.

General session speakers included Lisa Bodell, an award-winning author and CEO of futurethink, an innovation-training firm that helps businesses embrace change. Lisa encouraged the SIORs in attendance to be open to change and actively think about pushing their individual and company boundaries.  Rear Admiral Scott Moore, a SEAL leader, gave an inspirational message of organizational leadership and teambuilding.  The closing general session featured Dr. Mark Dotzour providing an economic update with a bullish outlook.  He pointed out that we are in month 82 of the current expansion, the U.S. leading Index of Economic Indicators are still strong, and real estate continues to be a particularly excellent investment.

The chapter would also like to acknowledge the election of Mark Duclos, SIOR to the National SIOR board of directors, which occurred during the conference.

The Connecticut/Western Massachusetts Chapter is one of forty-six chapters of the prestigious international organization, the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors.  Commercial real estate professionals must meet rigorous requirements to earn the SIOR designation. SIOR, based in Washington, D.C. and founded in 1941, has more than 3,200 members in 593 markets located in 22 countries on 6 continents.  SIORs are top producers who are required to complete an educational recertification program every three years.  This assures those who need the services of a commercial real estate agent that the SIOR has achieved continued excellence.
