Corderman & Company completes 8,000 s/f project for First Chapters Preschool

Boston, MA Corderman & Company has completed the construction of First Chapters Preschool, an 8,000 s/f early education and childcare center adjacent to Harvard Business School’s campus. The center is a subset of the Babilou Family organization, one of the world’s leading early education networks.

The Corderman & Company team collaborated with Babilou Family, Breakthrough Properties, STA Architecture, BLW Engineers, On Point Consulting Group, and an array of trade partners.

Construction consisted of a discovery center; offices; a reception area; and a variety of infant, toddler, and preschool rooms. Additionally, the added scope of an outdoor playground, provided by KOMPAN, set precedent as the Corderman team’s first playground installation. This play space is divided into two distinct, age-specific areas for infants and toddlers.

Thoughtful design extends throughout the interior of the space, apparent in custom curved millwork features, open archways, and even a rock-climbing wall, all of which promote engagement and learning while creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Each detail is tailored to build a space where staff can successfully encourage movement and play while fostering growth and development for First Chapters’ students.

Corderman is grateful to have had the opportunity to support the school’s mission to inspire creativity, integrate nature into learning, utilize science-backed programs and methods, and help families navigate early education.
