CTA Construction selected to build new senior center at Ward Park.
The new $6.4 million, one and two story, 22,000 s/f center will feature a large multi-purpose room as well as administrative offices, a library, a computer room, kitchen, and dedicated space for games, fitness, arts and crafts. A new 70-space parking lot will also be added to facilitate parking for senior and visitors.
Infrastructure improvements to the park will include drainage as well as a walking path. Future plan to refurbish the existing basketball and tennis courts, and a multisport playing field and track is in the works. The location of the senior center to Ward Park will allow classes to be held outdoors, or exercise on the new walking path.
