Newton, MA Cushman & Wakefield represented Boston Ballet, an internationally acclaimed organization dedicated to world class dance education and acclaimed performances, in its 15-year expansion and relocation of the Boston Ballet School Newton Studio to 153 Needham St.
The new studio will be located within Newton Nexus, a new building complex being developed by Crosspoint Associates. The new and expanded location offers a total of 26,550 s/f. The current location at 863 Washington St. will remain fully operational for the 2016-2017 school year, with plans to move to the new space in summer 2017.
Cushman & Wakefield’s John Boyle, Ryan Romano and Will Foley represented Boston Ballet in the transaction, while Avison Young represented the landlord.
The new location will allow for expanded programming with a total of seven studios—two more than the current space—responding to increased demand in the Western suburbs. The facility will be a forward-thinking, inclusive venue that advances the mission of the organization and aims to better serve the Newton community with more space, parking, accessibility and amenities. The Newton Nexus complex is conveniently located 10 miles west of downtown Boston, with easy access to Route 128/I-95 and the Mass Pike. The new location also will triple the amount of available parking for Boston Ballet School.
“We heard the needs of our students and families and are pleased to have the opportunity to respond with a new facility that will be both welcoming and professional. It is important to us to address the holistic experience for our students and families—from studio space and locker rooms to lounge areas and dedicated physical therapy space,” said Margaret Tracey, director of Boston Ballet School. “The new space will reflect the high-quality ballet education we offer at Boston Ballet School. This is an exciting move for us as we look forward to serving the Newton-area community for many years to come.”
“This space within Newton Nexus offers expanded and improved space for Boston Ballet School’s unique needs, while allowing them to stay in Newton,” said Boyle. “Newton Nexus is a vibrant new retail destination and gives the school a more central location in the suburbs.”
