Hartford, CT DAI Architect, Inc. (DAI) recently completed the design of a 2,000 s/f Family Resource Center for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC).  The center will serve as a valuable resource for patient families and boasts a simulation room to help train parents to administer treatments for their child, an interactive learning center with a table-sized touch screen surface and 6 computer stations for parents and children to access the internet to gather information or research medical conditions.

The center is also home to a library, movie room and information center. Designed with children in mind, the United Technologies Corporation (UTC) Family Resource Center’s bright colors and modern architecture, exudes a fresh look and feel that will appeal to both children and adults of all ages.

It’s one of the only centers of its kind that provides valuable resources to both the patients and parents in the same space. The center will be staffed by a Medical Resource Librarian, an Educational Specialist and highly trained volunteers who will guide families through dedicated resources and support offerings. Training and educational courses will also be available to parents looking to learn more about their child’s healthcare needs.  In addition to the latest technology and simulation training equipment, the UTC Family Resource Center will be accessible 24 hours a day and will be completely free of charge to all families.

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is a nationally recognized, 187-bed not-for-profit hospital and is the only free-standing children’s hospital in Connecticut that offers comprehensive, world-class health care to children.
