For those of us in New England, flooding waters are always a potential danger—not only because of the miles of coastline and rivers and lakes that surround us, but also because of our unpredictable weather. But even without these threats businesses are also at risk for unexpected and devastating water damage from other sources. The failure of internal structural systems including broken and leaking pipes, failed drainage and sprinkler systems, along with many other structural failures may contribute to water damage. Flooding water moves and spreads quickly within a building, and once on the move can often settle in hidden places and go undetected.
Daniele says many businesses that encounter an unexpected flood do not have a detailed plan in place to evacuate, assess and repair damage, put people back to work (or back into their condos or apartments), and get the business up and running quickly following a disaster.
"Our in-house presentation is geared toward property and facility managers. We want them to have a good understanding of what they can expect in the event of a water damage disaster, and how to react quickly and safely," said Daniele. "By doing so, time and money can be saved and peace of mind can be restored."
Migrating water is especially hazardous if left undetected, as mold, mildew and bacteria can grow quickly and cause health problems down the road. Even a few inches of water can cause major damage to a building.
"It is our goal to ensure that property managers are ready to handle the challenges of unexpected water damage," said Daniele.
