Delphi Construction awarded $11.5 million Campus Center project at Tabor Academy - new 30,000 s/f, two-story facility designed by Saltonstall Architects

Marion, MA Multi-market construction management firm, Delphi Construction has been awarded the contract for a new Campus Center to be built on the property of Tabor Academy. The project value is $11.5 million.

The new Campus Center, designed by Saltonstall Architects, will replace an outdated 1950’s era library with an underutilized space configuration on the independent school’s waterfront campus. The new contemporary design of a 30,000 s/f, two-story facility with concrete and steel superstructure and large banks of glass, will serve as the school’s first ever Campus Center complete with a Student Union and café for gathering and socialization, and a centralized location for the Student Life offices. It will also house the library, Tabor Archives, and ASSIST academic support program offices and tutoring spaces, as well as a number of collaborative work and meeting rooms.

Both Saltonstall and Delphi have been active on Tabor’s campus for a number of years. Delphi was selected to build the school’s new girl’s dormitories, also designed by Saltonstall, in 2018, followed by several other smaller, restorative projects on campus. Delphi’s project development team was involved from the earliest days of the new Campus Center project, having assisted the school through the pre-construction planning phase.

Tabor’s chief financial officer Stephen Sanford noted that the school is pleased to continue contracting with the two organizations. “We appreciate our strong working relationships with both Delphi and Saltonstall, and look forward to our continued partnership and the completion of this important project. The building is a much-needed facility on campus that will benefit student-life greatly and enhance our campus program both academically and socially.”

Delphi’s vice president, Corey Heaslip expressed his firm’s excitement about taking on another large project at the school.

“We are delighted to be working with both Saltonstall Architects and the team at Tabor on another high-profile project. As a construction management company with a focus on educational and institutional construction, it is gratifying to know clients like Tabor Academy and partners like Saltonstall find value in what Delphi brings to the table. We are honored to have been selected to handle this project and look forward to delivering an outstanding final product,” Heaslip said.

Delphi will manage the project out of their Cape Cod office. Construction got underway in August with abatement and demolition of the existing building.
