EMCOR Services New England Mechanical receives Design/Build Award by Contracting Business Magazine

EMCOR Services New England Mechanical, has received a 2013 Design/Build Award by Contracting Business Magazine. It's the fourth time in seven years the company's been awarded 1st place in the publication's Design/Build awards competition. The firm was recognized for design and installation of new building systems at Orafol Americas manufacturing facility in Avon, Connecticut. One of New England's leading mechanical services contractors, EMCOR Services New England Mechanical (NEMSI) is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE: EME), a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, industrial and energy infrastructure, and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses. NEMSI was responsible for installing a new central chilled water plant in the Orafol facility; centrifugal chillers and a hydronic economizer were used to provide 300 nominal tons for a combination make-up air conditioning/comfort cooling system loop. A new controls system was also installed. NEMSI's design resulted in the lowest live-cycle cost and was able to dramatically reduce the noise impact compared to the existing system. "Contracting Business' Design/Build Awards honors the most creative and innovative work by commercial HVAC contractors across the country, so it's gratifying to again be recognized for Design/Build excellence," stated Dana Finnegan, President & CEO, EMCOR Services New England Mechanical. "Importantly, NEMSI delivered a result to our client that exceeded their expectations. Specifically, we delivered a solution that tripled the size of the process chilled water system, eliminated negative pressure problems in the building, mitigated noise issues, helped secure a utility incentive, and minimized capital expenditure while keeping the facility's process energy costs virtually unchanged from the existing, smaller system." In naming NEMSI as Design/Build award winner, the editors of Contracting Business stated: "Designing for extensive industrial processes is perhaps the most demanding task in the mechanical HVAC world. Combine industrial processes with necessary comfort cooling and you've got an extra-demanding project on your hands. EMCOR Services New England Mechanical made it happen."
