Woburn, MA Local nonprofits are celebrating the season with a combined $520,000 in funding through Cummings Community Giving. This annual program allows employees of Woburn-based real estate developer Cummings Properties to each direct up to $2,000 from the company to a nonprofit of their choice.

Now in its 14th year, the initiative is designed to support the communities where Cummings team members live and work. More than 240 organizations across approximately 80 local cities and towns will benefit from this cycle of Cummings Community Giving.

“This program is meaningful for so many of our team members,” said president Eric Anderson. “It puts philanthropy directly in their hands, allowing them to further support the causes that matter most to them.”

Anderson noted that 100% of all rental profits at Cummings go to nonprofits.

“The work our staff does every day to keep our buildings full helps to support hundreds of local nonprofits,” said Anderson. “They all have a role in our organization’s success, and we want them to have a role in its giving as well.”

Client services administrator Kate Tabor, of Woburn, was among this year’s participants. Tabor directed her donation to Danvers High School DECA to support the Be Kind Legacy, which honors slain Danvers High math teacher Colleen Ritzer.

“I learned about the project through my niece, Meghan, who is part of the Danvers DECA Falcons Foundation,” said Tabor. “I was thrilled to present the check to her and her team — and even more so bring along my colleagues Jane Flaherty and Beth Callahan, who also directed their $2,000 to this important memorial after hearing the story.”

Cummings Properties carpenter Cam McLeod split his donation between Merrimack Valley’s Village Food Hub and Westford-based House Rabbit Network.

Senior accounting associate Kelly Dineen, a Woburn native and 11-year Cummings employee, split her contribution between two Woburn nonprofits: Tanner Ta Ta Foundation and Woburn Historical Society.

“I look forward to Cummings Community Giving every year,” Dineen said. “It feels wonderful to support organizations that are meaningful to me in such a tangible way.”

Cummings Community Giving is open to staff at Cummings Properties as well as its affiliated senior living communities, New Horizons at Choate, in Woburn, and New Horizons at Marlborough.

Each eligible nonprofit may receive up to $6,000 per cycle. Through this year’s cycle, 14 organizations reached the maximum, including: Andrew’s Helpful Hands, of Hudson; Cape Ann Animal Aid, of Gloucester; The Jimmy Fund, of Brookline; Joseph Briere Foundation, of Woburn; and Somerville Public Schools.
