Should you panic? No. Should you be concerned? YES!
Molds are naturally occurring fungi all around us, indoors and out. Mold decreases property value, infects the air you breathe and can cause a variety of health problems.
Remember: Moisture is the problem, mold is the result.
In any mold removal project:
The first step is to identify and locate the water intrusion and/or causative moisture source that allowed the mold growth in the first place.
The second step is to fix the root of the problem by eliminating the moisture source to ensure that the mold will not return.
The third step is to determine the best method to decontaminate the area and follow the prescribed procedures.
For those of you reading this that haven't seen one of our many white and yellow trucks driving around, let me briefly introduce you to EnviroVantage. This year we are celebrating our 25th year in business as one of New England's leading environmental and industrial services contractor specializing in services such as mold/microbial remediation, the removal of lead and asbestos, demolition, industrial painting & coating, environmental clean-up and more.
If you have had the pleasure of working with EnviroVantage on one of your past projects you certainly know, firsthand, how committed we are to high quality workmanship, safety and environmental responsibility. We pride ourselves in finishing each job on time and on budget, while going above and beyond the expectations of our clients ensuring their complete satisfaction.
For example:
In one of our recent projects, the EnviroVantage team took on the challenge to remediate the tack room in a large horse barn that not only involved a great deal of hazardous mold, but also contained massive amounts of harmful bacterial contamination as well. Before our crew started the project there were numerous mushrooms emerging from the floor, growing up to two feet in diameter. After removing the infected floor and subfloor, we came across more issues, including three different layers of insulation. Each layer was trapping moisture and creating its own micro-environment, further enhancing the diversity of all types of unsafe mold growth.
After the successful remediation of the above mentioned, we finally reached the dirt floor, only to find unexpected flourishing masses of mold that were creeping and flowing across the dirt.
During the remediation process, we performed significant selective demolition, including the floor, walls and part of an indoor riding arena. After we finished up with the demo portion, we were able to uncover the source of all these dangerous symptoms. The wash stall next to the tack room was leaking under the floor, causing the booming mold, and the nasty plethora of bacteria.
The EnviroVantage crew handled everything without missing a beat. We accomplished all of the necessary demolition and remediation, fixed the source of the problem, and made sure to keep all horses that were occupying the barn safe and away from the toxins. After the project was completed, a certified Industrial Hygienist performed an air clearance test and was proud to announce that the air test came back showing 0 spores present. This led to a happy, satisfied client which meant another project success for EV.
This case study is real proof of our expertise, work ethic, and dedication to our clients. EnviroVantage has earned an unparalleled reputation over the past 25 years, and one of the reasons our clients continuously choose us and refer us to their friends is our innovation and creativity when we attack each project.
