Equity Co. receives Design Award for The Residences at Franklin School

The Equity Company's most recent real estate development was a contemporary adaptive re-use of a classic style brick school known as The Residences at Franklin School. They created 20 condominiums, and unlike many other development projects that came on line at the same time, the condos received very positive buyer acceptance and most are now sold. The development has received the Housing Design Award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) New York Chapter and the Boston Society of Architects. The award may sound a little like the "Intergalactic Frisbee Award" to non architects, but Franklin was recognized as the best housing development in New England, New York or anywhere in the world designed by a New York or New England architectural firm. Franklin had previously been recognized by the Prism Award as the Best Condominium Conversion in New England. These awards reflect strong creative vision and superior execution. A large team of very talented firms and individuals working hard over several years designed and built The Residences at Franklin School. Abacus Architects & Planners and Metric Corporation was the general contractor for the project.
