Erland awarded Phillips Academy Snyder Center

Andover, MA Erland recently began construction on the Phillips Academy Snyder Center, which is being built adjacent to the Phelps Stadium football field. Due to the nature of the dramatically sloped site and the requirement that the field remain in use throughout construction, a soil retention system is being used to safeguard against collapse. Small exterior retaining walls will also be incorporated throughout the site for landscaping aesthetic.

The new 98,325 s/f facility, designed by a Perkins + Will, is a steel structure with curtain wall, storefront, masonry and composite metal panel exterior. The Snyder Center will feature three basketball courts surrounded by an indoor track; 12 regulation squash courts and one tournament grade court with viewing deck; and specialty flooring for each purpose. The design also includes three multi-purpose spaces which overlook the football field, locker rooms and a small kitchen space.

Anticipated completion of Phillips Academy’s Snyder Center is December 2017. This is the fifth project Erland has performed on the Phillips Academy campus.
