Erland Construction, Inc. completed two major projects - the new 25,000 s/f Athletic Center at Beaver Country Day School and Sunrise of Braintree, a 61,000 s/f senior living development located. Beaver Country Day School had been planning to expand and improve the athletic facilities on its tight urban campus for several years. The new Athletic Center Erland constructed houses two indoor courts for basketball, as well as upgraded and centralized locker and shower facilities for team and everyday use. The new fitness center will be used for conditioning and weight training. The glazed entrance and lobby area houses a gallery space that overlooks the main gym. Teaming with HMFH Architects of Cambridge, Erland completed this project in under one year. The completion of Sunrise of Braintree marks the second time that Sunrise Senior Living, Beery Rio Architects, and Erland have collaborated. The newest Sunrise community offers a home-like environment and features 79 residential units for seniors who need assistance with activities. The interior has custom finishes; built-in 24-hour emergency response systems; and access to a centrally located community center for dining, education and recreation programs, and a beauty and barber shop. Outdoor gardens, landscaping, and walking paths were also installed.
