Falmouth, ME Flagship Cinemas is opening a new movie theater next to Walmart on U.S. Rte. 1. The Falmouth location will be Flagship Cinemas’ fifteenth theater and the company hopes to open its doors during the summer.

Back in 1995, Flagship Cinemas launched its maiden voyage into the movie exhibition industry when it opened its first theatre in Falmouth. Since that time, there have been many new developments within the industry that have made the movie-going experience more exciting and enjoyable than ever before. It is with pleasure that Flagship Cinemas now returns to reintroduce cinema to the Falmouth community in a whole new way. Summer will mark the debut of Flagship Premium Cinemas, a modern, movie theatre unrivaled by any other in the market. Featuring plush, power-reclining chairs with ottomans and the latest in digital sound and projection, Flagship Premium Cinemas will also provide the latest in upscale amenities. Among these will be reserved seating, self-serve soda stations, as well as specialty film programming. Grand opening events will be announced to the public in the coming weeks.

According to David Goldberg, chairman of the Falmouth town council, “The town is extremely pleased that Flagship Cinemas decided to locate in Falmouth and that Walmart, which held the lease on the vacant space, has cooperated to make it happen.”

“Adding a high-quality movie experience back into the community’s entertainment mix is excellent news for our residents and businesses, not just in Falmouth, but also in the entire region,” said Theo Holtwijk, the town’s director of Long Range Planning and Economic Development.
