Price Chopper Supermarket, Washington Street Plaza - Middletown, CT

Galaxy Development, LLC has purchased and developed the former Shop Rite portion of Washington Street Plaza and signed a lease with Price Chopper Supermarket for a 60,000 s/f supermarket and pharmacy which celebrated its grand opening on June 15th. The 5.32-acre parcel included the former Shop Rite and inline shop space which was demolished and redeveloped to accommodate Price Chopper. The center is also anchored by Home Depot which was not part of the sale transaction but remains part of the shopping center.
The environmentally green Price Chopper Supermarket was designed and engineered to achieve silver-level certification in the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program with a multitude of sustainable features. The 24-hour store offers a selection of groceries, general merchandise and health and beauty care items and fills the void left by Shop Rite for area residents. Additionally, Price Chopper offers full service meat, fresh seafood, deli, bakery, pharmacy and floral departments as well as fresh fruits and produce and prepared foods.
Tim McNamara of Sullivan Hayes Companies brokered the sale and KBE Building Corp. of Farmington was the contractor for the project.
