Salem, MA Groom Construction Co. hired Jacob Grills and Samuel Marcionek as project managers, further expanding the firm’s project management capabilities across a growing portfolio of commercial and national retail construction projects.
Grills brings nearly a decade of construction management experience with expertise in higher education, life science, and public sector projects. Throughout his career, he has managed complex renovations, occupied-space construction, life safety upgrades, and large-scale commercial projects ranging from institutional renovations to major urban redevelopment work. His experience includes project management, subcontractor coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and oversight of technically demanding construction environments.
Marcionek joins Groom with more than 15 years of experience in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry, managing commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout. His background includes work within the educational, multifamily, municipal, retail, industrial, hospitality, life sciences, and commercial sectors, with experience in budgeting, procurement, scheduling, value engineering, and client coordination. Marcionek is recognized for his collaborative approach and ability to drive projects while maintaining relationships with project stakeholders.

As project managers, Grills and Marcionek will be responsible for overseeing all phases of project execution, including budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, client communication, and project closeout. Both are experienced in managing fast-paced, technically demanding projects while maintaining strong relationships with owners, design teams, and trade partners.
Grills earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and holds OSHA 30, CPR/AED, and Procore certifications.
Marcionek earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Technology from Fitchburg State University and maintains OSHA 30, CPR & First Aid, and Confined Space certifications.
