Hevenor of Markus Appraisal awarded MAI designation

East Greenwich, RI Bradford Hevenor, MAI, an appraiser at Markus Appraisal, was awarded the Appraisal Institute’s prestigious MAI membership designation, which is held by appraisers who are experienced in the valuation and evaluation of commercial, industrial, residential and other types of properties, and who advise clients on real estate investment decisions. On March 29th, he was presented with his MAI certificate by Jennifer Schnell, SRA, AI-RRS, the chair of the Rhode Island Branch Chapter of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.Hevenor certificate

Hevenor is a graduate of Tufts University (BA) and University of Washington (MA). He started working with his father’s appraisal firm, Markus Appraisal, in 2005. Over the past decade, Hevenor has worked with his wife Jordan Hevenor, MAI, brother Adam and father Mark in the family firm. Hevenor joined the Appraisal Institute in 2006 and immediately began volunteering.

He served in various positions for the Rhode Island Chapter of the Appraisal Institute including serving as committee chair for various committees as well as being a member of its board of directors. When the RI Chapter merged with the Massachusetts Chapter in 2013, Hevenor continued his service to the Appraisal Institute as the PR committee chair. He has also been instrumental in the development of chapter developed programming. He is a member of the Hope Scholarship Committee.

The MAI designation is received upon the successful completion of a graduate-level curriculum, which includes a comprehensive exam, a written demonstration appraisal report and attaining 4,500 hours of qualifying experience requirements. Also, designees must abide by both the appraisal profession’s Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and the Appraisal Institute’s Standards of Professional Practice and Code of Ethics.

MAIs are recognized experts in appraising properties of all kinds and form a business network encompassing markets nationwide and around the world. Currently, about 8,200 real estate appraisal professionals hold the MAI designation, with another 2,700 practitioners seeking it.
