April 21, 2010 - Retail
The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Foundation is pleased to announce the finalists for the Albert Sussman International Community Support Award which honors the best community support program worldwide. The five finalists competing for the ICSC Foundation's 2010 Albert Sussman International Community Support Award represent the winners from the past year's Europe, Canada, Latin America, Asia Pacific and the United States competitions. The Sussman Award provides a $10,000 donation to the winner's partnering charity.
The 2010 Albert Sussman International Community Support Award finalists are:
The British Land Company PLC's Meadowhall Shopping Centre won the 2009 European Community Support Award for their The Source at Meadowhall entry. Since opening, The Source has delivered job training to over 2,000 people, including the long-term unemployed.
Ivanhoe Cambridge's Southcentre Mall in Calgary, Alberta won the 2009 Canadian Community Support Award for its Everyday Angels program. Each year, the program chooses a charity and provides it with funding through various special initiatives.
Majid Al Futtaim Properties LLC of the United Arab Emirates was named the 2009 Asia-Pacific Middle East and Africa Community Support Award winner for their Make A Difference campaign. Majid Al Futtaim Properties owns and operates four shopping malls in the United Arab Emirates.
The 2009 Latin America Community Support Award was presented to Punta Carretas Shopping Center of Uruguay for their Fundación Teletón campaign. Their charitable success was due in part to their "five major pillars" campaign approach, and to the efforts of the center's shop assistants, tenants, administrative staff and shareholders.
Steiner + Associates and their Zona Rosa Shopping Center of Kansas City, Mo. was named the 2010 United States Community Support Award winner for their Zona Rosa Community Foundation: At the Center of the Community campaign.
The 2010 award will be presented during ICSC's Night of the Stars as part of the Best-of-the-Best Awards at RECon in Las Vegas on May 23.
