IFMA Boston president rings in the New Year

Now that we are all safely beyond the 'cliff', (Phew!) we can squarely focus on making 2013 a productive and exciting year. At IFMA Boston, we just gathered all of our volunteers together to brainstorm on events for the upcoming calendar. Our goal is to deliver thought provoking programs and seminars that not only serve to educate and enlighten, but to bring us all together as a business community. Our emphasis has been on exploring and discussing industry topics and trends that are timely, on point and essential to those who are supporting the built environment. When one considered the rapid advancements in technology, the constantly updated demands of sustainability and ever expanding job description of "facilities," today's FM is challenged with accomplishing far greater than ever before in the history of the profession. Our mission, as a chapter remains focused on helping you to navigate your way through an increasingly progressing FM industry. Together, we will help one another to become familiar (and comfortable) with change. In 2013, we can sigh in relief over the resurrection of normalcy with our Boston Bruins, and try gracefully to ignore the gradual decline of the Celtics. And as spring looms in the near future, and Opening Day at Fenway Park becomes more clear in the calendar, we can begin our annual, newly revitalized tradition of hoping that the "This will be the year" for the Boston Red Sox. It can happen. Joe Flynn, CFM, LEED AP is the 2013 IFMA Boston president,Boston, Mass.
