IFMA members are flying high into the summer months

June was a busy month for members of the Boston Chapter of IFMA! We kicked off the month with a truly unique program run by the Sustainability Committee titled "Harnessing the Sun: Perspectives on Solar Energy." Held at Gillette Stadium, this program featured a panel of energy experts from The Kraft Group, Boston Properties, Zapotec Energy, National Grid and SMMA, that discussed the state of solar energy in our industry, and was followed by a site tour of the stadium and nearby Patriot Place; including Gillette's own solar installation. One week later, the Northeast Building and Facility Management Show (NEBFM) rolled into town at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center; where thousands of the area's FM professionals gathered for two days for educational programs and the latest in FM products and services. IFMA Boston served as the presenting sponsor of the event and was privileged to showcase the expertise of its membership as many longstanding members presented at the conference or led panel discussions on hot industry topics. The exciting month of June was capped off by our 2013 Golf Classic (one of IFMA Boston's signature events of the year)! This year's event saw some exciting upgrades including a change of venue and an updated putting competition. Thirty-six foursomes hit the greens of the beautiful, finely-manicured Red Tail Golf Course in Devens, MA. This year's presenting sponsor of the classic was Timberline Construction. Other event sponsors included Haworth, Margulies Perruzzi Architects, Dellbrook Construction, and Diversified Project Management. As always, our Chapter extends our deepest thanks to all of our event sponsors, as well as our Chapter sponsors, without whom we could not run the many outstanding programs and events held throughout the year. We invite you to learn more about our Chapter by visiting our website (www.ifmaboston.org), interacting with us on Twitter (@IFMABoston) and/or attending one of our events! We're confident that if you're not a member already, you will want to become a member ASAP. Happy Summer! Joe Flynn, CFM, LEED AP is the 2013 IFMA Boston president,Boston, Mass.
