Institute of Real Estate Management installs 2012 officers

The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) installed its officers for 2012 during its just-concluded Fall Leadership Conference held in San Diego, Calif. James Evans, CPM of Grand Blanc, Mich. is IREM's new president; Elizabeth Machen, CPM of Charlotte, N.C. is the new president-elect; and Joseph Greenblatt, CPM of San Diego is the new secretary/treasurer.
A senior executive with two Grand Blanc, Mich.-area companies, Evans is president and CEO of Bruce G. Pollock & Associates, Inc., Realtors, AMO, responsible for the commercial, residential and property management divisions of the company. He also is president and CEO of KEB Investments, a real estate development company with responsibility for acquiring, leasing and managing all of the company's properties.
Evans earned IREM's Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation in 1998, and has held numerous positions with IREM's Michigan Chapter No. 5, including that of chapter president. Nationally, he has served as a regional vice president and as a member of several committees, including the Legislative and Public Policy Committee, the Asset Management Committee, the Income/Expense Analysis Committee and Advisory Board, and the Executive Committee.
Active in civic and community affairs, Evans has served as a member of the Grand Blanc Community Fund, and was a board member of the Genesys Health Foundation which is responsible for generating and administering all charitable gifts for Genesys Health System, one of the largest and most comprehensive health systems in mid-Michigan. He also has been active in organizations including Vision 20/20, a community development organization in Genesee County, Mich., and Transition House which provides substance abuse treatment in and around the Flint, Mich. area.

Machen is president of the Charlotte, N.C.-based Machen Advisory Group, Inc., with responsibility for overseeing the firm's portfolio of office, retail, mixed-use, showroom and industrial properties in the Carolinas.
Her expertise is far-ranging and includes property takeovers, rehabs, stabilizing properties, analyzing property performance for prospective buyers, and serving on due diligence teams. She also specializes in disaster and emergency training, as well as serving as the LEED AP on several LEED projects.

Greenblatt is president of Sunrise Management, headquartered in San Diego, with responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company, its portfolio of more than 8,500 resident units, and its 300 employees officed in San Diego and Mesa, Ariz. He has long been active in IREM's San Diego Chapter No.18, and has served in numerous chapter leadership positions, including that of president. He was the chapter's CPM Candidate of the Year in 1991 and its CPM of the Year in 1994.
