Integrated Builders tops-off 60,000 s/f office expansion for MACOM Technology Solutions

Lowell, MA Integrated Builders completed the structural steel component of the 60,000 s/f office building expansion for MACOM Technology Solutions. The firm has provided construction management and general contracting services on behalf of owner Calare Properties and owner’s representative PMRG. The Integrated Builders team includes project manager Tom Childs, assistant project manager Barbara Frazier, and superintendent Jim Leiter who have collaborated with architect Spagnolo Gisness & Associates (SGA), civil engineer R.J. O’Connell, MEP engineer WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, and structural engineer McNamara Salvia on the modern design.

Integrated Builders has framed the new section of MACOM’s headquarters with structural steel, and will add terracotta panels and glass curtain walls to the exterior. In addition, the original building will receive an aluminum façade to complement the expansion. The new and old sections of the office building will be connected with an elevated bridge that is encompassed in glass across two floors. MACOM’s design and operational center will remain, so the finished product will consist of a three-building campus.

The interior of the office expansion will feature individual offices, conference rooms, and collaborative work stations. The firm will construct a new entrance and reception area. There will also be a commercial cooking kitchen installed. In the warmer months, Integrated Builders will implement landscaping and hardscaping around the perimeter of the headquarters and install an outdoor patio with wall seating and a barbecue center. There will be a new parking area with charging stations for electric vehicles added to the campus and an aluminum picket fence around the perimeter. Integrated Builders has been strategic in its construction management in order to minimize disruption to normal operations and traffic while the building has remained occupied, and will continue to do so in the next phase of work.

MACOM Technology Solutions is ranked in the Top 10 Fastest Growing Public Tech Companies in Massachusetts according to the Boston Business Journal (2016). The organization delivers leading edge semiconductor technologies for optical, wireless, and satellite networks. MACOM has over 1,400 workers throughout North America and it is headquartered in Lowell.
