IREM Public Policy Awareness Month

On a state and federal level, we advocate on behalf of the Real Estate Management industry to encourage the passage of laws that protect the best interests of Property Managers and clients. We are an affiliate organization to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), which administers the Realtors Political Action Committee (RPAC), one of the largest political action committees in the country. IREM is respected for its members' expertise and dedication to professionalism. 2015 is an important year for IREM to advocate in Washington DC and by State, including: * Leasehold Improvements - Supporting the decrease in the depreciable lives of tenant improvements to the length of the lease term. * 179D Commercial Energy Tax Credit - Supporting the extension of these business credits. * Disparate Impact Housing Theory - Enforcement of Fair Housing in a clear and unbiased manner which does not adversely affect business practices. * Federally-Assisted Housing Issues - Funding, safe & sanitary housing, and awarenesss. * Medical Marijuana - Voicing industry opinions on Federal vs State as it impacts reasonable accommodation.
