September 06, 2012 - Owners Developers & Managers

Jonathan Donahue, IREM Boston

The Boston Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate (IREM) is hosting its 14th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on September 10th at the Granite Links Golf Club located in Quincy, Mass. and is rated by Golf Digest as one of the top 100 courses in the country.
This year's charity is the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation. The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation was established in 2004, in loving memory of Gloria Gemma. Gloria instilled in her children strong family values and the importance of helping people in need. Through their grief, Gloria's children realized they needed to do something to help fight this horrific disease. They knew that more awareness, better education and increased funding for critical breast health programs could help women and men detect breast tumors earlier, ultimately saving lives.
In 2008, the foundation opened its Resource and Wellness Center, and Gloria's eldest daughter, Maria Gemma-Corcelli was named the executive director. Through the tireless efforts of Maria and her dedicated staff, the foundation has developed and implemented numerous programs and services for people living with breast cancer.
The September 10th tournament is a Florida scramble and includes lunch, golf, cart, golf clinic, dinner, raffles, silent auction and networking reception. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. In addition to the golf tournament, IREM is hosting a golf clinic for beginner golfers. Spouses, friends, family members or significant others are invited to register for the clinic, which is also being held at Granite Links Golf Club. The golf clinic will be taught by a Granite Links Club professional and will include instruction on basic techniques and fundamentals. Clinic and dinner fee is $79.
