Jewett Metal Buildings & Steel Erectors relocates to Scarborough

When Jewett Construction Co., Inc. acquired Performance Welding & Building Co., LLC in May, 2010, it became one of the few construction companies in the northeast with its own in-house metal erecting crew. Catering to clients all over N.E. seeking metal buildings and steel erection services, the Jewett Metal Buildings & Steel Erectors division has grown exponentially since, erecting well over 250,000 s/f of steel in only its third year of operation. Much of this growth comes from JMB's rapidly expanding business in Maine, resulting in the recent relocation of the division's physical shop and warehouse operations to the Scarborough Industrial Park. "While JMB has long conducted business in Maine," said Tom Morton, who helps head up the division, "this move has enabled us to continue to expand, better serving both our Maine-based customers and our employees-many of whom live in the state." JMB is a member of the Metal Building Contractors and Erectors Association, Steel Fabricators of New England, and the Steel Erectors Association of America; and is a registered builder of both the American Buildings Company, as well as Star Buildings Systems. Recent projects include a 20,000 s/f boat storage building for Mid-Maine Marine in Oakland, Maine; a 17,500 s/f indoor riding arena for Pepperhill Farm in South Thomaston, Maine; and a 5,000 s/f addition for Maine Oxy in South Portland.
