Jones Lang LaSalle and Digital Realty Trust break ground for 130,335 s/f data center/office

Digital Realty Trust, Inc. hosted a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the start of construction at its 105 Cabot St. The new three-story 130,335 s/f data center and office facility is located near Rte. 128/I-95. The event was attended by town officials, Digital Realty executives, and project team managers. Jones Lang LaSalle is serving as the leasing agent. The new building is designed to meet the technical requirements of companies seeking best in class data center space, featuring data center solutions, redundant power feeds, and fiber connectivity. Each floor will have approximately 20,000 s/f of raised flooring and 2 MWs of IT load. The space will also include state-of-the-art HVAC systems and security optimized support advanced datacenter operations. Digital Realty senior vice president, portfolio management Dave Caron said "This is an exciting construction project that will bring jobs to Needham, as well as world-class data center space to meet Boston-area customers' growing demand for these facilities. The new facility at 105 Cabot St. will expand our portfolio of data center properties in the Boston market to serve companies seeking IT infrastructure in the region. According to Jones Lang LaSalle vice president Greg Zais, "My partner Tamie Thompson and I are excited about Digital Realty's newest entry into the Boston data center market. 105 Cabot St.is truly a state of the art design for both infrastructure resiliency and energy efficiency. It is the newest purpose designed and built data center in the region. We expect to see significant pre-leasing from now until delivery in Q2 2013." "This new development is a very welcome addition to Needham's New England Business Center," said Needham board of selectmen chairman Moe Handel. "It is exactly the kind of development that was envisioned for this area. We welcome Digital Realty Trust to Needham. We sincerely wish them a long and productive tenure in our town and in this historic location which first provided much of the fill for Boston's Back Bay in the nineteenth century, was one of America's first industrial parks in the twentieth century, and is now one of the region's leading office and technology locations in the twenty first."
