King and Wirt of Commercial Realty Advisors arrange sale of Café Chew

Sandwich, MA Commercial Realty Advisors has completed the sale of Café Chew. The business, assets and real estate located at 4 Merchants Rd. have been acquired by James and Danielle Barber and Chris Carlson and Adrienne Jones, the current owners of the Café Alfresco, in Brewster, Mass.

The transaction was facilitated by Café Chew’s very own Bob King and Tobin Craig Wirt acting as the negotiating agents having both recently obtained real estate licenses with Commercial Realty Advisors.

The transaction closed on June 13, 2023 and was handled by the law offices of Theodore A. Schilling, P.C and The Law Office of Jennifer A. Reisig, P.C., ensuring a seamless transfer of ownership, and the financing was provided by Eastern Bank.

Having recently purchased Café Alfresco in 2021, James and Danielle Barber and Chris Carlson and Adrienne Jones emerged as the perfect team to carry on the Café Chew legacy that Bob and Tobin built.

Café Chew has been a beloved gathering place for locals and visitors alike for over two decades. It has become synonymous with great food, warm hospitality, and an inviting atmosphere. The new owners emphasize that while ownership has changed, Café Chew will remain the same, with the existing menu and staff intact. King and Wirt will assist with the transition, ensuring a smooth handover.

Throughout the years, King and Wirt have owned and operated Marshland, the Bee-Hive Tavern, the Bee-Hive General Store, a little sandwich shop at Russell’s Corner, and in 2009, converted Merchant Square Deli into Café Chew. After having spent more than 40 years in the restaurant industry, the pair are excited to begin this new chapter in their careers as commercial real estate sales agents focusing on hospitality. As agents at Commercial Realty Advisors, they will bring their extensive knowledge, experience, and many local connections to help other restaurateurs and hospitality professionals achieve their goals.
