Konover Construction Corporation, one of the region's leading firms providing preconstruction, construction management, design-build and general contracting services, hosted a topping-off ceremony at the site of the new police headquarters. The event took place recently and Danbury mayor Mark Boughton and police chief Alan Baker were on hand for the festivities.
In keeping with topping-off tradition, a U.S. flag was placed on the final steel beam set in place at the highest point of the structure.
"The City of Danbury is looking forward to the completion of the new police headquarters," said mayor Boughton. "This state of the art facility will help chief Baker and the entire force in their never-ending quest for improvement and efficiency to public safety. This facility will propel the department into the 21st century, allowing our officers to better serve the citizens of Danbury."
Construction of the 74,000 s/f three-story Victorian-styled facility will run through January 2009. The facility will allow the Danbury police to take advantage of the latest crime fighting and prevention technology, streamline its operations, and update department procedures.
"This is a facility the citizens of Danbury will be proud of," said Mike Kolakowski, KCC president and CEO. "The building itself will be beautiful, modern and will present a very positive image for the city."
