Boston, MA LEGO Discovery Center Boston revealed an all-new 20-foot giraffe as part of the attraction’s refurbishment. The giant creation took an entire day to assemble and features 22,000 LEGO DUPLO bricks. The LEGO Discovery Center, opening this spring, unveiled the new colorful giraffe as part of the $12 million renovation.
The new giraffe will be named Gio, after a local young boy who passed away six years ago after battling congenital heart disease. Gio’s family and friends were in attendance for the unveiling of the new giraffe. Speaking to what Gio the Giraffe means to the family, Gio’s mom, Maya Maggiore, said “He just loved giraffes. He was a big fan of colors. His favorite colors were primary colors. He just loved rainbows and everything beautiful about the world.”
Boston’s tallest giraffe will welcome guests to LEGO Discovery Center Boston once the attraction opens later this spring. The attraction will be a place where children’s imaginations and creativity know no bounds. An indoor adventure of 43,000 s/f where adults and children create and play together as they make their way through twelve zones including building adventures, an interactive ride and much more.

Here, the littlest builders and their families can learn and play together, solve puzzles, build with LEGO DUPLO building bricks and catch the ducks in the DUPLO duck pond!
Minifigure Creator
Guests can design and build their own LEGO Minifigure. Choose from a billion LEGO heads, bodies, legs, and more to build your own Minifigure.
Hero Adventures
LEGO CITY meets LEGO NINJAGO in the fast-paced hero adventures. Run through the LEGO laser maze, conquer a climbing wall and see how fast you go in an action game. There are also building activities to get involved in and a soft play area for kids to let off steam.
Creative Club
Create with LEGO bricks in the creative club. Our amazing Master Model Builders lend a hand to guests, sparking their imaginations to create custom creations. Daily building activities include mosaic making to portrait painting with LEGO bricks.
LEGO Tree of Togetherness
Plant your own LEGO ideas on the trunk or in the branches and get inspired by the master model builder and his team. They challenge you every hour with fun building activities. Our Playmakers will help you work your creative muscles in this awesome build zone before you take a picture and head off to your next adventure.
