Maplewood Healthcare, LLC broke ground on its new two-story, 26,000 s/f medical office building on May 21. The 3.26 acre site is located at 164 Mount Pleasant Rd. Claris Construction has been selected as the architect and general contractor for the project.
It is anticipated that due to the trend of hospitals moving many of their non-core businesses off-site and closer to the communities they serve, that this location would be very suitable for a variety of medical and healthcare related uses due to convenience, quality/design and parking.
DaVita Inc., a national provider of dialysis treatments, will become the lead tenant in this project, taking approximately 38% of the buildings ground floor.
This area of Newtown along Rte. 6 (Mount Pleasant Rd.) has seen a lot of development in recent years with more in the planning stages. Toll Brothers is completing its 170-unit age-restricted housing development, adjacent to 100-unit senior living community known as Maplewood at Newtown. Liberty at Newtown, a 55 and older residential development comprised of 96-unit residences located to the west of the project. The historic town center of Newtown is two miles to the west.
Less than a mile away in Bethel, Big Y is the anchor in a large retail development. Additionally, an 84-unit all dementia, purposeful built assisted living and memory care community known as Maplewood at Stony Hill is being developed in Bethel with a scheduled opening for November.
