Matthews Commercial Properties leases 6,500 s/f to U.S. Census 2010

According to Gerry Matthews of Matthews Commercial Properties, United States Census 2010 has recently signed a lease with Midex Corporation to occupy space in the former Timex world headquarters located at 199 Park Rd. Extension. The Government Office will occupy 6,500 s/f on the lower level of the property. The site was chosen after an extensive search lasting over five months. The Census Bureau will create approximately 40 full time positions to be located at the facility. It will also create 1,000 temporary and part time positions. Occupancy is scheduled for August of this year. During the search Gerry Matthews was in contact with First Selectman Tom Gormley to advise him of the possible addition to the community. Gormley was instrumental in lobbying our congressional leaders in asking for their input in ensuring that Middlebury got a fair shot at housing the Census Bureau at this location.
