McFarland and Twombly of Avison Young broker 3,309 s/f lease

Avison Young has brokered a 3,309 s/f lease at 4 Liberty Sq. Avison Young principal Karyn McFarland and vice president Matt Twombly represented the tenant, Columbia Laboratories, Inc. David Cooney, vice president at NAI Hunneman, represented the landlord, Liberty Square Holdings, LLC. "We are pleased to have secured 4 Liberty Square for Columbia's new corporate headquarters. We expect to transition to Boston over the coming months as we build our team there from among Boston's great entrepreneurial talent pool," said Frank Condella, Columbia's president and chief executive officer of Columbia Laboratories. 4 Liberty Sq. is a seven-story, 25,818 s/f office building located in Boston's Financial District. Columbia Laboratories is a specialty pharmaceutical company with a history of developing drugs for women's healthcare indications. Each product uses Columbia's novel bioadhesive delivery system to achieve controlled, sustained delivery of the active drug compound. The company's most successful product to-date, CRINONE® 8% (progesterone gel), is marketed for use in infertility treatments by Actavis, Inc. (NYSE: ACT) in the United States and by Merck Serono S.A. in over 60 foreign countries.
