The Real Estate Finance Association of Connecticut has named their 2012-2013 chapter officers:
Fairfield/Westchester Chapter
Donald Gustafson - president
Gustafson is an attorney at Shipman Goodwin who practices primarily in the area of commercial real estate. Gustafson has counseled local, regional and national financial institutions and private equity firms regarding commercial real estate financing, acquisition, construction projects, loan restructuring and workouts. He also has experience in representing developers, municipalities, corporations and real estate investment trusts in connection with the acquisition, financing, development and sales of properties, including office buildings, retail shopping centers, hotels and multi-family projects.
He is also a licensed title insurance agent with various national title insurance companies.
Al Mirin - vice president
Mirin is a senior director, investment sales, in Cushman & Wakefield's Stamford office. Mirin has been recognized as a top producer in investment sales in the region for the past 20 years. He is a leader in Cushman & Wakefield's regional investment sales group and heads the private capital group, which specializes in middle market building sales ranging from $2 to $15 million. In this position, Mirin is able to enhance his value proposition with his clients, advising them on how to increase long-term asset value when the time comes to monetize that asset whether through sale or financing.
Mirin previously served as senior vice president at CBRE in Stamford, specializing in investment properties. In that capacity, he acted as advisor in more than 20 million s/f of transactions, totaling in excess of $8 billion.
Hartford Chapter
Skip Alleman - president
Dudley (Skip) Alleman is a Connecticut licensed environmental professional (LEP) and senior project manager within the geological services division at HRP Associates, Inc. based in Farmington. Alleman's responsibilities include management of environmental site investigations and remediation at commercial and industrial facilities, including Brownfields properties. This typically requires the investigation of historical contaminant sources resulting in the implementation of hydrogeological studies and remedial action projects. He also is responsible for developing new business with new and existing clients.
Tyler Brown - vice president
Brown, MAI is vice president, valuation at Cornerstone Real Estate Advisors. He is responsible for establishing valuation policy and directing the quarterly valuation process for all of Cornerstone's equity funds and accounts. Brown is the chair of both the equity and debt valuation committees.
Prior to joining Cornerstone in 2003, Brown was with Cushman & Wakefield of Massachusetts where he provided valuation advisory services on a full range of assets. Including eight years of experience in investment brokerage in the Boston area with regional and national firms, Brown has 24 years in real estate brokerage, analysis and appraisal.
He is a designated member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI), the 2012-2013 vice president of the Hartford Chapter of the Real Estate Finance Association, the 2012 president of the Connecticut Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and the 2012-2103 chair of the valuation committee at NCREIF.
On December 20, the Hartford Chapter of REFA hosted their annual holiday social at The Bushnell in downtown Hartford. Thomas Deller, director of the Hartford Department of Development Services spoke from 5:15 - 6p.m. A networking social followed from 6 - 8p.m.
On January 10, the Fairfield/Westchester Chapter will host their annual holiday social at Harlan Social in Stamford. This social will take place from 5:30 - 7:30p.m.
The REFA boards and the staff wishes the happiest of holidays and a healthy and prosperous New Year to all of the REFA members and looks forward to seeing everyone in 2013.
