NAIOP raises $99,000 to be donated to Heading Home Inc.

Members and guests of NAIOP Mass. came together to raise more $99,000 to prevent homelessness at the 21st Annual NAIOP Charitable Golf Tournament, benefiting Heading Home, Inc. Held Wednesday, June 3rd, the tournament brought more than 350 commercial real estate professionals out for a day of golf, networking, and fundraising. The money raised this year brings the chapter's total donations over the past two decades to more than $1.3 million, making NAIOP the largest single contributor to Heading Home. "We recognize these are challenging times for everyone, but none more so than for the many families and individuals served by Heading Home," said NAIOP CEO David Begelfer, who has led the chapter's long-standing commitment to Heading Home, receiving their Special Appreciation Award in 2007 for his dedication. "The need is greater than ever before, and we are honored to support their innovative and successful Housing First approach to ending homelessness among area families and individuals." Played on three courses at Stow Acres Country Club and Butternut Farm Golf Club, the tournament is one of the industry's most popular summer events, drawing hundreds of NAIOP members and guests from around the state. In addition, a co-ed Golf Clinic hosted by the NAIOP Women's Initiative was held concurrently at Stow Acres, giving novice players an opportunity to participate in the day's events, including the closing reception. Additional funds for Heading Home were raised through corporate sponsorships and private donations, as well as a silent auction, raffle, and other prizes offered the day of the tournament. The co-chairs of the 2009 NAIOP Charitable Events Committee, Tom Landry of TA Associates Realty and Kathryn Hester, would like to thank this year's many sponsors and donors who gave so generously to this event. It is only through their support that the tournament is able to raise funds needed to help Heading Home accomplish their goal of ending homelessness for area families. At a time when affordable housing is in crisis in the Commonwealth, Heading Home provides area families in need in with support to improve their lives and live independently.
