Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) acquired 59 Waterville Rd. from Old Avon Realty, LLC for $2.698 million. CREC, a public non-profit magnet school presently located in Avon on Fisher Dr., plans on utilizing the property to relocate and expand their existing facility, Reggio Magnet School of the Arts.
The 10.5-acre site is located on Waterville Rd. (Rte. 10) , close to the intersection of Rte. 44. A portion of the property had been occupied by the Avon Cider Mill for many years. Approvals from the municipality and state were required for a zone change, special exception permit, inlands wetlands and a signalized intersection at Avonwood Rd.
Lisa Sweeney, formerly of Coldwell Banker and Jeff Streett of National Realty Advisors, LLC represented the seller, and Shawn McMahon of Jones Lang LaSalle represented the buyer.
The Reggio Magnet School of the Arts plans on opening January 2014.
