Norman, Hanson & DeTroy renews 26,565 s/f lease at 220 Middle St. Portland, ME

Portland, ME According to East Brown Cow, Norman, Hanson & DeTroy has renewed its lease at 220 Middle St. It has signed a 15-year lease for its 26,565 s/f space, reaffirming the firm’s long-term commitment to downtown. Joe Malone of Malone Commercial Brokers represented the landlord and Drew Sigfridson of The Boulos Company represented the tenant.

Founded in 1975, the firm has grown steadily over the decades and now includes 47 attorneys serving a wide range of clients across the state. The firm relocated to its current space at 220 Middle St. 13 years ago. Now it occupies three levels of Class A office space in the top levels of 220 Middle St., with enough flexibility in the office design to allow it to grow further.

“Norman, Hanson & DeTroy has been an important part of the business community in Portland for over half a century,” said Tim Soley, president and CEO of East Brown Cow. “We’re proud to partner with a firm that is so deeply rooted in Maine and continues to grow and innovate while maintaining a strong commitment to Portland’s historic downtown.”

The law firm traces its roots to 415 Congress Street, just blocks away from its current location. Last summer, the firm welcomed 10 additional attorneys in a merger with Thompson, Bowie & Hatch, strengthening its capabilities across several key practice areas.

East Brown Cow has been a very attentive landlord and a strong partner as our firm continues to grow.”

Situated at the cultural and economic center of Maine's largest city, 220 Middle Street is part of Old Port Square district. This four-acre district is currently being redesigned to strengthen its connectivity to Portland's urban fabric and create an activated and distinct destination featuring prime retail, luxury hospitality, residences, award-winning food and beverage, Class A office, and experiential uses. In the past year alone, Old Port Square has welcomed national retailers such as Pop Up Bagel and thriving community events such as the Old Port Maker’s Market.
