North Shore Community College signs 17,000 s/f lease renewal

After 10 years at its 100 Cummings Center location, North Shore Community College has renewed its lease for 17,000 s/f of office and classroom space. This branch of the college employs 15 regular staff members, as well as 150 course instructors who educate approximately 3,000 students annually. One of three campuses of the college, Cummings Center is home to its corporate and community education division led by Dean Dianne Palter Gill who said, "Cummings Center is a wonderful site for the school, as we are able to partner with many area businesses to help train their employees." According to Steve Drohosky, Cummings Center vice president and general manager, "The more than 500 diverse businesses and approximately 4,500 employees at Cummings Center make it an ideal location for personal and business service providers. Tenants appreciate the convenience of the many on-site amenities, such as the classes offered by North Shore Community College, as well as day care, fitness centers, restaurants, medical offices, dry cleaners, salons and spas, and banks." Incorporated in the lease renewal are facility renovations, including new carpeting and paint, as well as energy efficiency upgrades to thermostats, temperature controls, and lighting. These environmentally friendly measures, to be completed early next year, will ensure the campus meets the current green standards of both North Shore Community College and Cummings Properties. Drohosky said, "Cummings Properties has a long history of green business practices, including 900 Cummings Center becoming the first building in Beverly to earn the Energy Star label in 2008. The campus' newest building, 500 Cummings Center, also should soon be eligible for Energy Star and/or LEED certification."
