Northern Construction Service to renovate Festival Pier in Pawtucket
Northern Construction Service, LLC has started the long-planned major renovations to the former Old State Pier property off School St.
Because the site, also known as Festival Pier, will be under active construction, the area will be closed and off limits to the public until Sept. 1 for the construction period.
The $2.1 million renovation project includes environmental remediation and will feature a new waterfront pedestrian plaza, lighting, new parking areas, landscaping, a canoe/kayak launching area and a state of the art accessible boat ramp.
The project is being funded through the U.S. EPA, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, state Department of Environmental Management and a federal Community Development Block Grant received by the city.
